Breath of the Wild Fan art Project
Final Renders
These renders were taken in Unreal Engine 4 and edited in Photoshop. I came to this final product thanks to critiquing from my peers, I also posted this on a forum on Poly count and got a lot of critiques through there. The biggest challenge for me when making this environment was getting the lighting to interact with the environment the way that I wanted it to. Eventually I figured it out and am really happy with how the environment turned out! I made all of the things in this final image except for the sky dome.
Concept
After playing the game Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, I was wowed by the environments. I wanted to recreate the area "East Akkala Stable," but instead of copying the art style of the game I decided to do hand painted textures instead. I wanted to make the scene in a diorama style so that I could focus on only the most important parts of the scene and not have to worry too much about the background. Props that I made included a lantern, the stable itself, beds to go inside the stable, various fabrics to go around the top parts, as well as story telling props around the outside. I built this scene with Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine 4, individual props are rendered in Marmoset Tool bag 4. I made the foliage by hand, and I used TreeIt to make the tree models.
